Our vibrant Pamba baskets are handmade of yarns from recycled clothing and finished with beautiful leather detailing. Woven by hand in Eastern Kenya, they can take up to a week to complete, depending on the size and complexity of the basket. Based on the Kenyan Kiodno basket, the single handled versions are traditionally carried on ones back, with the strap around your forehead, leaving your hands free for other tasks. Once the baskets are finished, they are handed to a fundi, or tradesperson, who adds either double or single leather handles and details. The baskets then begin their journey to us in Canada, and ultimately, on to you!
